Ophthalmology and General Medicine, Britain 1951

The ideal of the generalist, c. 1951
The work of Allbutt, Jonathan Hutchinson, Gowers, and a multitude of other clinicians has forged a permanent link between ophthalmology and general medicine. It was encouraging, therefore, to see this traditional relationship being maintained at the annual congress of the Ophthalmological Society of the United Kingdom, which was held in London from March 29 to 31.
